NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will host a Graphic Design Portfolio Night from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, in Graphic Design Room B121 in the art building on Wilson Drive.

The event will feature three SFA art alumni who will discuss their successful careers following graduation.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – With many dining and entertainment options available in Nacogdoches, spending “Christmas with the Annie Moses Band” on Dec. 12 could evolve into a full night of festivities, food and fun for the entire family.

The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts will present “Christmas with the Annie Moses Band” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, in W.M. Turner Auditorium as part of its 2017-18 University Series. This holiday performance of the Nashville-based Annie Moses Band is sponsored in part by Nacogdoches Medical Center.

A team of researchers at Stephen F. Austin State University's National Center for Pharmaceutical Crops, located within the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agricultural, has spent years researching giant salvinia, a noxious plant species known to overtake waterways and kill aquatic life.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University’s downtown Nacogdoches art gallery, has announced its holiday hours.

With the exception of Mondays, The Cole Art Center will be open each day throughout the rest of December. Hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Exhibitions currently showing include “Collective Transference: Houston Area Clay” and “The Patriotic Art of World War I in France,” both of which are showing through Dec. 31.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University honored prominent donors and other individuals whose work has positively impacted the university during the 29th annual SFA Gala held recently in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.

Donors honored this year include Susan and Sam Calomino, Madeline and Alfred Danheim, and ExxonMobil.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Economics Reading Group, led by Dr. Ryan Phelps, associate professor in the Rusche College of Business, recently hosted a video contest about J.D. Vance’s book “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis.”

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Registration is underway for private lessons and group classes offered for the 2018 spring semester by the Music Preparatory Division of the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Besides the usual 16-week private lessons in piano, harp, violin, voice, bass, classical guitar, saxophone and cello, Music Prep is introducing early childhood music classes in the coming spring, according to Pat Barnett, director of the Music Preparatory Division.
