NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s eighth annual STEM Day provided more than 350 area high school students an opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and math through faculty-led sessions, student panels and a physics magic show.

Working alongside SFA students and faculty members, students learned how STEM integrates across disciplines through hands-on, interactive activities, said Adrienne Aul, STEM Research and Learning Center programs coordinator.

According to band members Paul Driver, Jon Hall, Charlie Jones, Mark McLain, Robbie Roach, Craig and Michelle Smith, and Jesse Tingle, the band is East Texas' answer to The Old Crow Medicine Show, an Americana string band based in Nashville, playing old-time acoustic music using the fiddle, guitars, mandolin, banjos and percussion.

A high-fidelity mannequin rests on a hospital bed, with its chest rising up and down simulating a real-life patient. With tubes connected to the mannequin, Pelham, a clinical instructor in the School of Human Sciences, explains what a registered dietitian would need to know and do in this clinical setting.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University students and faculty members recently participated in the 18th Annual Region Five Texas National Association for Multicultural Education Conference at the Janice A. Pattillo Early Childhood Research Center.

This conference focused on social activism and making multicultural education accessible for everyone. Participants engaged in workshop and panel sessions, paper presentations, poster sessions, and an ideas and issues discussion.

An encore screening of the film "Koo-Hoot Kiwat: The Caddo Grass House" will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in Cole Art Center. In the PBS film, which is directed by Curtis Craven, a Caddo tribal elder and his apprentice return to their ancestral homeland in East Texas to direct the construction of a traditional grass house.
