Groundbreaking set for SFA's new DeWitt School of Nursing


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A groundbreaking ceremony for Stephen F. Austin State University's new $13 million Richard and Lucille DeWitt School of Nursing is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26.

The ceremony is being held in conjunction with the university's Board of Regents meeting and will take place at the construction site located at 5707 North St. in Nacogdoches. The public is invited to attend.

SFA to open exhibition of 'sewn drawings'


"Monument to Desire," a 2008 machine appliqué and embroidery of fabric artwork by China Marks, is one of the pieces included in "Everything Old Is New Again: The Sewn Drawings of China Marks" that will open at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in SFA's The Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

Baylor trombonist to give recital at SFA

SFA and Panola College representatives sign articulation agreements

Representatives from Stephen F. Austin State University and Panola College recently signed articulation agreements ensuring a seamless transition for Panola students pursuing a bachelor's degree in education at SFA. The agreement is the result of a federal grant designed to provide resources to SFA's community college partners for collaboration.

SFA to offer floral design workshop


The floral design workshop offered by Stephen F. Austin State University is one of the programs designed by the Mast Arboretum to provide practical information to gardeners. The next workshop is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan 24.

A workshop at Stephen F. Austin State University on Jan. 24 will give participants an introduction to floral design. Dr. Michael Maurer, SFA assistant professor of horticulture, will teach the class.

SFA Mast Arboretum announces Les Reeves Lecture Series

The SFA Mast Arboretum Les Reeves Lecture Series is held the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Stephen F. Austin University Agriculture Building, Room 110 on Wilson Drive.

On Jan. 15, Dr. Leon Young will present information regarding the SFA Soil Lab, soil testing, results, pH and liming.

Registration open for SFA Music Preparatory Division classes


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are now being accepted for the spring classes offered through the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division.

Registration open for SFA Dallas art tour


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Reservations are now being accepted for a bus tour to the Dallas Cultural Arts District on Friday, Feb. 13, sponsored by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art.

Participants will be able to visit the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Crowe Collection of Asian Art.

"The highlight of the trip will be 'Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs' at the Dallas Museum of Art," said Jill Carrington, SFA associate professor of art history and the trip's coordinator.
