SFA’s Jacks of Steel to present spring concert
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin State University’s steel drum band will present another of its high-energy concerts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
“The Jacks of Steel members are excited to present their spring 2023 collection of music,” said Dr. Jamie Vilseck, adjunct music faculty professor and director of the Jacks of Steel. “This concert features a collection of socas, calypsos, sambas, reggaes and pop music.”
SFA’s Trombone Choir to perform classical works
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Trombone Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present classical music from three eras when the student ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The program will feature works from the Renaissance era, the Classical period and the 20th century, according to Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone at SFA.
SFA School of Theatre and Dance to present musical comedy ‘[title of show]’
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Described as "a musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical," the hilarious “[title of show]” opens April 20 at Stephen F. Austin State University as the final 2022-23 Mainstage Series presentation of the School of Theater and Dance.
2023 Nac Short Film Festival set for April 15 on SFA campus
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The 2023 Nac Short Film Festival, featuring the work of current and former Stephen F. Austin State University film students, is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. April 15 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Theater on the SFA campus.
The festival focuses on independent filmmakers who create films in East Texas. During the event, attendees will vote for the Audience Choice Award, which comes with a $100 prize for the winner.
