Child Protection Training

We are committed to providing a safe environment for youth to grow, learn, and have fun. This training is designed for personnel working with minors, equipping them with the knowledge to recognize and address the serious risk of child abuse. Our goal is to ensure the safety of children while fostering a nurturing and caring atmosphere. Through this training, we aim to engage you in effective strategies for identifying, preventing, and reporting child abuse and neglect.

Instructions on how to complete the Child Protection Training will be emailed to Designated Individuals whom are listed by a youth program director in the youth protection portal of Ideal-Logic. A designated Individual is someone who interacts with, supervises or oversees minors during a program or event involving minors. The designated individuals are responsible for the safety and well-being of minors in their care, they include: SFA employees, affiliates, volunteers, contractors, counselors, chaperones, coaches, mentors, instuctors and similar individuals.

All staff that is participating in a youth program must successfully complete the state-approved training on warning signs of sexual abuse and child molestation (and any related examination) compliant with Section 51.976, Texas Education Code prior to engaging with minors.

Background Checks

Youth Programs shall ensure that for all employees and final applicants who will work with the program, and all volunteers and student observers who will regularly or frequently be at the program, are subject to a criminal background check each year. The check shall be conducted 30 days prior to the beginning of the program and prior to permitting an individual to work, volunteer, or be present.
