Award-winning program with free peer tutoring
All tutoring services are drop-in (no sign-up required!) with the exception of appointments. Our appointment availability is limited and early sign-ups are encouraged. When you're ready to explore the methods in which tutoring for your courses are currently offered, scroll down to view our tutoring schedule, sorted according to subject.
Our tutoring methods include appointments, SI groups, walk-in tables and the online writing lab. Click on the thumbnails below to learn more about each method!
Appointments
Recurring weekly 1:1 appointments and One-Time-Only appointments can be scheduled for many subjects by completing the appointment request form.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, during which time you and your tutor will work together to help you better understand concepts and build confidence in processing the information. Early sign-ups are encouraged due to limited availability.
SI Groups
Led by a student who has already taken the course and has been personally chosen by the course instructor to be an SI leader.
This tutoring method offers a second look at the class material through informal, interactive sessions designed to help you understand concepts and practice problems so you’re prepared for whatever the test might bring.
Bring any materials associated with the class. You may attend SI Groups for course sections that serve an instructor other than yours. This service requires no appointment and can be used as often as you like.
Food and drink are allowed during an SI Group session! The session lasts 50 minutes, but you are welcome to arrive late or leave early if needed.
Walk-In Tables
A great place to prepare and study for your classes! Each walk-in table has designated hours in which it is open, during which time you can stay for as long as you need.
Tutors for the walk-in tables can answer questions, direct you in problem solving, review concepts, or just be available if you have a question while studying. This service requires no appointment and can be used as often as you like.
Joining via Zoom: No video camera? No mic? No problem.
Video cameras and microphones are not required to receive tutoring via Zoom. Our tutors will utilize the chat feature to ensure you receive the help you need. When you click the Zoom link for your course, you will be redirected to Zoom. A quick dialogue box will appear to verify you are an SFA student, and you will instantly receive an email containing information about joining the meeting.
