About

Welcome to your first year!

Starting college is an exciting time, filled with new opportunities, fresh perspectives and big decisions. Whether you are stepping onto campus for the first time or finding your rhythm in collegiate coursework, please know that you do not have to navigate this journey alone.

The First-Year Advising Center, or FYAC, was created with a single purpose: to ensure that every incoming first-year student experiences exceptional, personalized academic support from day one. Our dedicated advisors are here to partner with you as you explore degree options, select classes, build foundational academic skills and connect with resources tailored to your individual goals.

Our team strives to:

  • Demystify the academic journey by helping you understand degree requirements, prerequisites, and milestone deadlines with clarity and confidence.
  • Foster strong habits in students by connecting you with tutoring, peer mentoring, and time-management strategies early in the semester.
  • Create connections by serving as your primary hub for questions, questions-behind-the-questions, and referrals across campus departments.
  • Advocate for your success by providing proactive, holistic guidance that honors your unique background and goals.

Your first year sets the foundation for everything that follows. We encourage you to reach out early, visit often, and view your advisor as a committed collaborator in your college journey.

We are proud to walk alongside you this first year, and we cannot wait to see what you accomplish.
