Core curriculum
The core curriculum at SFA seeks to equip students with the broad intellectual foundations needed to live satisfying lives, to ready themselves for advanced study, to contribute significantly to society and to succeed in a diverse global community. In the service of these objectives, the mission of the core curriculum is to develop students’ abilities to think in disciplined, critical, quantitative and creative ways, and to communicate effectively.
Adding a course to the core
Adding a course to the core curriculum is a multi-step process:
- Review the Core Curriculum Application Process document.
- Determine which component area is the best fit for the course.
- Determine how the core objectives associated with the component area will be incorporated and taught within the course.
- Create a course proposal in Curriculog.
- Schedule a proposal presentation with the Core Curriculum Assessment Committee.
