Build essential leadership skills

Leadership skills are essential in any field or industry, from business and finance to medicine, marketing, education or science. SFA’s ROTC offers classes and field training activities that will help you develop the real-world leadership skills you’ll need to succeed, whether you plan to pursue a career in the military or in the civilian world.

A message from the department chair, Major Michael Hamilton

Welcome to the Department of Military Science! Our mission is to recruit, educate, develop and inspire ROTC cadets to ultimately commission into the U.S. Army. This is accomplished as an in-college, officer-commissioning program that adds a layer of military training to your education. Upon successful completion of the ROTC training program and receipt of at least a bachelor's degree, cadets will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the either the United States Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserves. If students are unsure of a career in the Army, they may take military science courses without any military obligation.
