Dr. Stephen Shrewsbury to serve as panel judge for regional moot court competition

Shrewsbury was asked to serve as a panel judge for the 74th Annual National Moot Court Competition Western Regional round at the University of Utah College of Law Nov. 10. While he was a law student at the university, Shrewsbury was on a team of Western regional champions.

The top two teams advanced to the National Moot Court Championships in New York City in January, which will focus on the case of a young internet influencer who was sanctioned by the Securities and Exchange Commission and sued by a private purchaser of a type of digital currency she recommended in an online post.

Two Rusche College of Business faculty members receive award

Dr. Carol Wright, chair and associate professor of business communication and legal studies, and Dr. Lucia Sigmar, associate professor of business communication and legal studies recently received the Association for Business Communication – Southwest’s Distinguished Paper Award for "Undergraduate Business Majors' Perceptions of Skills Acquired During College."

Dr. Suhyung Lee receives the 2023 Academy of Human Resource Development Cutting Edge Award

Dr. Suhyung Lee received the 2023 Academy of Human Resource Development Cutting Edge Award for his scholarly paper "The Effects of Subjective Career Success and Perceived Shared Leadership on Personal Growth Initiative: Moderating Effects of Challenging Job Experience" at the academy’s conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This year, only seven out of 89 submissions received the award, which is presented to papers that contribute practical knowledge to the human resource development profession.

Dr. Carol Wright receives Outstanding Researcher award

At the 2022 Association for Business Communication - Southwest conference, Dr. Carol Wright was honored with the Outstanding Researcher award.

Dr. Stephen Shrewsbury receives 2021 Marlin C. Young Teaching Excellence Award

Dr. Stephen Shrewsbury, professor

Dr. Stephen Shrewsbury teaches graduate and undergraduate international and transnational law courses, business law, negotiations and dispute resolution, and business governance and ethics. His research interests include air and aviation law, corporate ethics, and international business ethics.

“My focus in being a college professor as a second career has always been on employing the most effective teaching methods possible to engage students and help them learn,” Shrewsbury said. “Being recognized by my peers in the College of Business motivates me to press on toward that goal even more.”

Shrewsbury brought more than 30 years of military experience to the classroom upon his arrival at SFA in 2017. Read more about Shrewsbury's service.

Dr. Carol Wright receives Senior College of University Business Teacher of the Year

In 2019, Dr. Carol Wright was recognized by the National Business Education Association with the Senior College of University Business Teacher of the Year award.
