On 7-24-2024, UPD officers responded to Hall 20 in reference to an activated fire alarm. Officers arrived and located the room where the alarm was activated. Officers smelled a strong odor of burnt marihuana omitting from the room and also found that the smoke alarm was covered with a plastic bag. Officers learned that the student-residents were smoking marihuana in the room and placed the plastic bag over the alarm in an attempt to keep the alarm from activating. Officers did locate drug paraphernalia inside the room and both student-residents were issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tuesday July 23, 2024 – Wednesday July 24, 2024
On 7-23-2024, a UPD officer was walking outside of Hall 20 and smelled the odor of burnt marihuana. The officer located two subjects standing outside of Hall 20 and one subject was smoking. While speaking with the two individuals one admitted they were smoking marihuana. The subject that was smoking was issued a summons for possession of marihuana and released. There is one suspect.
Monday July 22, 2024 – Tuesday July 23, 2024
On 7-21-2024, a UPD officer was notified of a criminal mischief in Lot 46. Officers reviewed security camera footage of a vehicle doing donuts in Lot 46 leaving black marks on the pavement. Officers were able to locate the driver of the suspect vehicle and information was gathered for a criminal mischief report. There is one suspect.

On 7-18-2024, a UPD officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of East College Street for driving the wrong way in the roadway. The officer contacted the driver and smelled the odor of marihuana coming from inside of the vehicle. The officer questioned the driver about the smell and the driver admitted there was marihuana inside the vehicle. The officer conducted a probable cause search and located marihuana inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested for possession of marihuana and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident. There is one suspect.

On 7-4-2024, a UPD officer was dispatched to telephone a complainant in reference to an email scam. The complainant advised he was scammed out of five-hundred dollars through a false email job opportunity. There are no known suspects.

On 6-22-2024, a UPD officer stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of East College Street for a traffic violation. The officer contacted the driver and detected a smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted to drinking alcohol prior to being stopped by the officer. A field of sobriety tests were given to the driver which showed the driver to be under the influence. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident.

On 6-18-2024 an officer was dispatched to the Griffith Fine Arts Building in reference to graffiti. The complainant advised that on 6-18-2024, camp staff located graffiti in the second-floor men’s restroom in the Griffith Fine Arts Bbuilding. There are no suspects.

On 6-7-2024 an officer was contacted by a complainant at the Ag pond in reference to assault/family violence. The complainant stated on 6-7-2024 she was assaulted by her boyfriend at Hall 20. There is one suspect.
On 6-7-2024 an officer was dispatched to the McKibben Education building in reference to harassment. The complainant stated on 6-6-2024, she received numerous unwanted phone calls from a known person at the McKibben Education building. The complainant did not wish to pursue with criminal charges. There is one suspect.

On 6-3-2024, UPD officers on routine patrol found fresh tire marks from a vehicle that was engaged in rapid acceleration in Lot 61. Security cameras recorded the incident and found that the incident took place on 6-2-2024. Officers were able to locate a license plate and owner of the suspect vehicle. A warrant for criminal mischief will be issued for the driver at the completion of the investigation. There is one suspect.
