Request accommodations
You'll need to submit the online general accommodation request to get started and include required documentation. This process must be completed every semester.
Notifying instructor of approved accommodations
Once your request is reviewed, approved and you've met with the Office of Disability Services to discuss recommended accommodations, it is your responsibility to give your instructor advance notice of your accommodation needs to allow adequate preparation. This process must be completed every semester for every applicable class.
Each semester, the Office of Disability Services will email students with registered accommodation needs when it's time to submit your faculty notification letters. This notification process will occur in the Office of Disability Services online AIM Student Portal and should be completed prior to the semester start to give your instructors adequate advance notice of accommodation needs.
How to submit a faculty notification letter
Steps to submit notification letters
In the AIM Student Portal:
- Select each cource in need of a notification letter.
- If you're unsure whether accommodations will be needed for a course, we recommend you include the course in this selection in the event there are any unforeseen difficulties.
- Review each course carefully to determine the most appropriate services needed for the course type.
- Choose appropriate accommodations needed for each course.
Your submitted request will be reviewed and sent to your instructor. A confirmation email will be provided to you for each course notification.
Communicate with your instructor
Once you receive confirmation of the course notification, set an appointment with your instructor to discuss how the accommodations will be implemented in their course and talk through any specific questions or concerns.
