SFA's Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden is about to become even more inspiring. SFA Gardens and the School of Art are partnering to launch an exciting new sculpture walk that will add original works of art to one of East Texas’ most beloved natural spaces. This unique project will transform the garden into a vibrant destination where art and nature meet.
In its inaugural year, the exhibition will showcase sculptures created by local artists, as well as SFA students and faculty members, building both community pride and momentum for the future of this program. Starting next year, 10 artists from Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, including SFA students, will be selected each year to showcase their sculptures in this exhibition. Your support will help these regional artists transport and install their sculptures in the azalea garden.
Come to our inaugural reception
We invite you to be part of this exciting beginning. Join us for the opening reception of the sculpture exhibition from 2 to 4 p.m. April 18, where you’ll be able to talk directly with the creators about their work and inspiration. A brief talk will be held in the Council Ring of the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden at 3 p.m., during which personnel from both SFA Gardens and the School of Art will speak on their future collaboration for this event.
