Residents moving in Fall 2026

  Avoid delay in receiving room assignment: Clear account holds, register for classes and upload your proof of bacterial meningitis immunization through mySFA.

  • July: Students will receive their assigned move-in times via email. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your assigned move-in time, please contact the Residence Life Office for assistance.
  • Aug. 20-21 — First-year residents check in
    • The offices of financial aid (first floor, Austin Building) and student billing (second floor, Austin Building) will be open until 6 p.m.
    • Academic advising and registration support available during resident check-in hours in the Steen Library Lumberjack Learning Lab 2.
  • Aug. 21: Weeks of Welcome events begin!
  • Aug. 22-23 — Returning residents check in

Move in FAQ

Can I move outside my scheduled move-in time?

To help provide a smooth move in process, students must move in during their scheduled move in time. If students need to change their move in time, please reach out to the Residence Life office at reslife@sfasu.edu

Can I move in after centralized check-in?

Yes. Students who move in after centralized check-in will need to check in at the front desks of their assigned halls.

What if I run late?

If unexpected delays would cause you to be a few minutes late, don’t worry, you do not need to notify us. However, if you are running hours or a day late, please email our office at reslife@sfasu.edu.

What if I need to arrive early for an organization or school event?

Please reach out to the Residence Life office and the director over your organization to plan your early arrival.

Are there elevators in all the halls?

Steen, Lodge, Landing, Village, Griffith, and Kerr have elevators. North, South, Hall 10, Wisely, and Hall 14 do not.

Should I bring a cart or dolly to move in?

Yes! While we do have carts and dollies for students to check out, they are limited and may not be available to all students.

How many people should I bring to move in?

We recommend only bringing the guest you will need to help you move in as parking will be limited during move in.

Can I change my housing assignment?

Students may request a room change either before or after they have moved in.

How can I see who my roommate is?

Go to your housing portal where you originally filled out your housing application. Select continue to view your assigned roommate and contact information.

Can I get my bed raised/lowered?

Yes, we will have housing operations in and out of all the buildings to complete work orders during move in.

Can I adjust the temperature of my room/AC?

Yes, in Lumberjack Lodge, Village, and Wisely Hall you can adjust your own AC. For all other buildings you can put in a work order at the front desk.

Can I bring an extra minifridge?

Yes, if it fits within the limitations listed within the community guidelines.

Are bed risers allowed?

No, most beds are adjustable and can be raised/lowered by putting in a work order at your hall’s front desk.

Something is broken/doesn’t work. How do I place a work order?

You can visit your hall’s front desk, and a staff member will be able to help you place a work order.

What Wi-Fi should I use?

For mobile devices we recommend eduroam, which you use your mySFA credentials to log into. For stationary devices such at TVs, computers, gaming consoles, use SFA-Wireless with password “golumberjacks”

Are ethernet connections available?

Yes! The IT help desk in the Steen library even offers free Ethernet cables for students.

Before You Arrive

Packed and ready to hit the road to Nacogdoches?

 Student ID Card: To make your move in smoother, get your student ID card before checking in.

 Scheduled Check In Time: Your check in date and time varies depending on your residence hall and whether you're a first-year, first-time resident or a returning resident.

  First-year, First-time Resident Check In Location: Enter 2407 N. University Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas as your GPS destination. This will direct you to Lot 47, also known as the SFA Commuter Lot.

  Unload at Residence Hall: After checking in, go to your residence hall. Resources that may be helpful:
