Mission Statement

The mission of the SFA Department of Computer Science is to prepare students for successful careers in the technology-oriented fields of computer science, computer information systems, data analytics and information technology through high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs facilitated by the effective use of learning environment, research opportunities and education resources. Emphasis in analytical problem solving, ethical behavior and a life-long desire for learning prepares students for leadership and service as a computing professional.

The Department of Computer Science is dedicated to serve as a center of excellence for intellectual, cultural and educational development. The department provides a broad educational experience for undergraduate and graduate students through programs that foster knowledge and understanding of the technology-oriented field of computer science and that are complementary to and supportive of programs in other disciplines. The department offers relevant courses of study which develop students' fundamental understanding of computer science and technology and their ability to utilize technological innovations in a variety of environments. The Department of Computer Science strives to employ faculty who are committed to excellence and leadership in the areas of effective instruction, scholarship and service.
