Available to all SFA students, regardless of major, a minor in financial planning provides a background to help qualify you for a variety of other positions in related fields, including: banking, investing, tax planning, accounting, nonprofit and more.
BBA in Finance with an emphasis in financial planning
A concentration in financial planning prepares you for a career helping individuals and families with a variety of personal financial issues, from investing and tax planning to insurance, estate planning and retirement preparation. As large numbers of Baby Boomers continue to retire and focus on estate planning, it’s a field of study that will likely remain in high demand for years to come.
A background in financial planning also qualifies you for a variety of other positions in related fields, including:

- HR and benefits
Students majoring in finance who are interested in an emphasis in financial planning are advised to choose specific courses for their electives and major requirements. These courses are accredited by the Certified Financial Planning Board, becoming eligible to sit for the CFP exam upon graduation.
