Instructor Selection Process

For more than 20 years, SFAS 1101 (formerly called SFA 101) has had great success in transitioning and engaging new freshman into the Stephen F. Austin State University community because of the efforts of skilled and caring educators. The Student Success Center prides itself on the quality of its Faculty and Staff Instructors and their commitment to freshman success.

If you are a current Faculty or Staff member who is interested in joining the SFAS 1101 team and have never taught before, please complete the New Instructor Interest Form. If you are a returning Faculty or Staff member who is interested in joining the SFAS 1101 team and have taught before, please complete the Returning Instructor Interest Form. (Fall 2021 forms Coming Soon). We are asking that any person interested in teaching SFAS 1101 for Fall 2021 complete this form and submit the required documents by TBA. If you would like to be considered for future terms, please complete the interest form and submit your professional documents at your earliest convenience.

All Faculty or Staff who complete the interest process will be contacted by the Student Success Center if there are sections available.

Office of Multicultural Affairs Events Tunnel of Oppression

The Office of Multicultural Affairs would like to invite you and your class to the Tunnel of Oppression. This is our most popular event amongst SFAS 1101 participants! This year we are expanding the times we are offering tours of the Tunnel in order to give your classes the chance to experience the Tunnel. Dates for the 2021 Tunnel of Oppression are TBD.

Fine Arts

The School of Theatre will be showcasing two plays for the SFAS 1101 classes. Below you will find a description of the plays. Plays have a firm start time of 7:30 PM. Therefore, late comers will be seated at the discretion of management. We advise students to arrive 10-15 minutes early.

Observatory & Planetarium

You can only sign up for one event at a time. However, if the observatory event is cancelled due to bad weather, then you can sign up for the planetarium event.

Dates and times for 2021 TBD. The planetarium is located in the STEM building. Planetarium shows are not cancelled due to bad weather. Please arrive to the showing 15 minutes before, as no late entry is accepted. Shows will last approximately 40-50 minutes. *University Policy requires all Planetarium visitors to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. Tickets go on sale at 6:30 pm at the planetarium box office. Seating is limited to 21 visitors due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements.* We hope to see you at one of our exciting events!
