The School of Theatre and Dance offers a handful of performing groups and organizations that allow students to pursue their passion for the arts with groups of like-minded students outside of the educational coursework required of theatre majors.
Clubs and Organizations
Alpha Psi Omega
A national theatre honor society, the focus of Alpha Psi Omega here at SFA is the students. Not only does the organization act as a liaison between the faculty and the students, but it also provides service opportunities and activities to build the morale for everyone at the School of Theatre and Dance. Alpha Psi Omega also aids in introducing prospective high school and transfer students to the school.
Chi Tau Epsilon Honor Society
Chi Tau Epsilon is a student-led organization open to all students. This national honorary dance society is for students to share their love of or interest in dance with a focus on choreography and performances. All dance genres and levels of dance experience are welcome!
A community outreach group that focuses on bringing musical and classical theatre to the greater Nacogdoches community.
Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival
A national organization that exists to celebrate the educational and creative process of university and college theatre. KCACTF promotes professional standards and provides students and faculty with opportunities to bridge the academic and professional worlds. KCACTF honors achievements in diversity and excellence and encourages experiences in all areas of theatre.
Consists of BIPOC students and allies, with a goal toward supporting, promoting, and performing the works of BIPOC playwrights through staged readings and performances.
Repertory Dance Company
This student dance company presents a wide range of performances at the university, in the community and at regional events. Admission is by audition and is for students with training in modern dance, ballet and/or jazz.
