Damon Derrick, JD

Damon Derrick’s professional path to higher education began during his first year of law school, when a meeting with a university’s general counsel revealed both a unique legal career path and a mission that deeply resonated with him. He is driven by the conviction that higher education is, at its core, a form of service dedicated to preparing the next generation to contribute meaningfully to society.

In his role at SFA, Derrick appreciates the opportunity to practice as a legal generalist, where no two days are the same and he is constantly challenged by a diverse array of legal issues. He finds it highly rewarding to collaborate with dedicated professionals united by a commitment to student success.

Outside of the office, Derrick’s life is centered on his wife, his children, and his church. He has a deep passion for travel and believes that true education often comes from direct exposure to different cultures and conversations with those in other communities. When he is not working or traveling, he is an avid enthusiast of the Star Wars universe, enjoying everything from the films and television series to the expanded literature.
