This degree equips you for roles in clinical settings, corporate wellness programs and elite sports performance facilities. You'll gain the theoretical framework needed to confidently pass your American College of Sports Medicine certification exams.

We've designed this program to prepare you for research or advanced graduate education. You can easily tailor your coursework to fit various career paths. We'll help you succeed whether you want to coach, enter physical therapy school or lead public health initiatives.
- Thesis track (30 credit hours) is ideal if you want to pursue a career in higher education or attend a doctoral program. You'll collaborate actively with our faculty on meaningful research and defend a formal thesis project.
- Non-thesis track (36 credit-hours) requires you to pass a written comprehensive exam instead of finishing a research project. It's a great fit if you want to enter the workforce immediately after graduation.
Applying to the kinesiology master's program
Requirements for admission
To be eligible for consideration into the program, you must:
- meet the SFA Graduate School requirements
- achieve an overall undergraduate 2.75 GPA
- or a 2.75 GPA in your final 60 hours of undergraduate study.
- and be one of the following:
- in your final year of undergraduate work
- holding a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
- or have 95 or more semester hours of undergraduate work at SFA and be approved as an overlap student.
We accept transfer credits on a case-by-case basis. You can transfer up to 12 hours if you choose the non-thesis track.
