Studying linguistics helps you develop important skills like critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving, data collection and analysis, communication, and advanced written and oral expression.

One of the most unique aspects of our program is the nature of our course offerings. SFA is one of the few institutions in the country that regularly offers courses in forensic linguistics. We also offer an invented languages course, providing students the opportunity to create languages like those featured in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “Game of Thrones” and other pop culture and literary masterpieces. Additionally, we offer rigorous courses like field methods, which are typically only offered at the graduate level.
