A versatile, remote-friendly path
Earn your degree entirely online, fitting your studies around your existing career and life commitments. You'll complete 36 credit hours of coursework, choosing between a thesis, non-thesis or media project path to tailor the experience to your professional goals. Rigorous coursework covers media research, theory, law and ethics while specialized electives sharpen your expertise.
Program tracks
You'll select from 24 hours of elective courses to focus your studies on advertising, public relations, journalism or broadcasting. You may also take six to nine hours of electives outside of the department with advisor approval to build a truly unique skill set.

Requirements for admission
To be eligible for consideration into the program, you must:
- meet the SFA Graduate School requirements
- achieve an undergraduate 2.5 GPA or higher overall
- or a 3.5 GPA in your major
- and be one of the following:
- in your final year of undergraduate work
- holding a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- or have 95 or more semester hours of undergraduate work at SFA and be approved as an overlap student.
