Clinical requirements
You'll complete a minimum of 720 clinical hours in your own geographical area.
Get certified
Upon completion of this degree, you'll become eligible to seek FNP certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program.

Requirements for admission
To be eligible for consideration into the program, you must:
- meet the SFA Graduate School requirements
- achieve an undergraduate 2.5 GPA or higher overall
- have a valid, unencumbered nursing license
- and be one of the following:
- in your final year of undergraduate work
- holding a bachelor’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university
- or have 95 or more semester hours of undergraduate work at SFA and be approved as an overlap student.
It's preferred that you also have at least one year of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
