MLK DAY OF SERVICE 2023

You are invited to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through service

When: Monday, January 16, 2023

Where: BPSC Grand Ballroom (2nd Floor of the Student Center)

Time of Event: 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Check-In & Registration: 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. (2nd floor of Student Center)

Keynote Speaker: 8:30 a.m. (BPSC Grand Ballroom - 2nd floor of Student Center)

Service:
10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (Various locations- will be assigned at registration)

Drive-thru Celebration: 1 - 3 p.m. (Kennedy Auditorium Circle Drive)

*Projects will be assigned during Check-In & Registration (Register through the Registration tab on the right)

*Registration will close at 11:59 p.m. on January 6th.

Project Request Form

Have a project you would like to submit for the MLK Day of Service? Submit your project!

The deadline to submit a project is January 6th.


Guidelines for Community and Campus Partners Nacogdoches Community and Campus Partners requesting projects must:

1. Create a project that engages the SFA student volunteers for the entire duration of the project time.

2. Provide any supplies necessary for the project.

3. Have a representative, with full knowledge of the project and organization, present for the duration of the project.

4. Provide an overview of the agency and explain the relevancy of the project to their agency and/or clients (5-10 minutes to the SFA student volunteers).

5. Provide feedback via survey regarding MLK Day of Service (survey link will be sent out following the event).

6. Contact Veronica Beavers or Kori Lewis at the SFA Office of Multicultural Affairs at least 24 hours in advance of any changes to the project or cancellation of the project

Interested in being a site mentor?

This year we are inviting SFA Faculty, Staff and Nacogdoches community members to serve as site mentors and work with the students to complete the project, while giving advice on leadership skills and educating them about the Nacogdoches community. Sign up to be a site mentor.

Site Mentors are required to:

1. Contact site manager to receive details about the project the day of.

2. Guide students in order to complete the project efficiently.

3. Attend site manager meeting or coordinate with Veronica Beavers or Kori Lewis to receive project assignment and MLK Day of Service Details.

4. Complete MLK Site Mentor Survey at the completion of event (survey link will be sent out following the event).
