As a student seeking a master's degree in conducting, you’ll have the opportunity to attain professional-level skills and background in the art of serving as music director for large performing ensembles.

In this program, you'll hone:

  • your command of rehearsal techniques for various performing forces
  • learn how to analyze and interpret musical scores
  • and develop appropriate conducting practices for communicating musical interpretation.

Most of all, you'll have the opportunity to synthesize your musicianship with great leadership skills to become an inspiring artist on the podium.

To accommodate those those who already hold teaching jobs, SFA offers low-residency options for this degree.
