Student Outreach and Well-being offers a comprehensive health education program with several initiatives, including case management, peer-health education and an evidence-based program to prevent alcohol and substance misuse.
Through a multi-level approach in addressing priority wellness issues for college students, we focus on preventative and responsive programming, including:

- social norms campaigns
- environmental change
- and strategic campus and community partnerships.
We also offer support through the Lumberjack Pantry.

When you're going out with friends, it's important to follow three safety measures of the buddy system and ACT:
- Agree to stay with your buddy.
- Check in with your buddy regularly.
- Take charge to return home together.
Tips to be proactive
Before you go out
- charge your phone
- eat
- set a limit on how much you'll consume
- designate a buddy with whom you'll ACT
- and plan a safe ride home for you and your buddy.
While you're out
- consider abstaining from drinking alcohol
- alternate nonalcoholic beverages with alcoholic beverages
- reduce drinking games
- check in with your buddy regularly
- be receptive to friends who tell you that you've had enough
- pace drinks to one or fewer per hour
- and return home with your buddy with a designated driver.
