Assistance in finding the resources you need to meet your goals

Wellness coaching has the potential to improve your overall well-being and academic achievement. It leverages your strengths and what motivates you to support behavior changes through a collaborative, non-judgmental partnership. Wellness coaches are here to help you:

  • work toward setting goals that are meaningful to you
  • create sustainable behavior change
  • identify the resources that can help you get where you want to be
  • succeed in your academics
  • increase your self-awareness and self-efficacy
  • and maximize your personal strengths and values.

College is a major transition period in your life. Balancing academics, extracurriculars, work and social life can leave you feeling overloaded and disorganized. Without the right tools, you may struggle to create the life that you want to live both now and in the future. Wellness coaching is a free service that will help you find those tools, and our wellness coaches are ready to guide and encourage you along the way.

Wellness coaching versus other health/wellness/exercise services

It's important to note that wellness coaches are not therapists or psychologists, and they don't assess or diagnose health conditions. Our wellness coaches are undergraduate and graduate students who have participated in appropriate training and consider you the expert in your own well-being and life.

If your needs are outside of their scope of practice, they can refer you to other on-campus allied professionals. These referrals may include:

  • Counseling Services: licensed professional counselors
  • Dining Services: registered dietitian
  • and Campus Recreation: certified personal trainers.

Schedule an appointment

To sign up, complete the Wellness Coaching Intake Form. One of our wellness coaching program staff members will review your form before contacting you to schedule your initial session.

What to expect

Typically one hour in length, the initial session is a time for you to work with your coach to identify priorities, establish goals and create a realistic action plan. You also have the option to schedule follow-up sessions. These additional sessions are about 30 minutes in length and serve as an opportunity to discuss your progress with your coach. These follow-up sessions can be scheduled at a frequency that works best for your goals and schedule.
