Testimonials from our clients

In survey responses from clients, there's consistently positive feedback about the program and how it's impacted their lives. The following testimonials may have been edited for brevity and clarity.

"I appreciate my coach's support. If I had not met them, I would not have understood how people can be so nice."

"I feel like I can finally manage this myself. I believe I'm starting to get the hand of things and I'm starting to read my body a lot better when it comes to food. I want to thank [my coach] deeply for all of [their] help and for constantly looking after me and keeping me accountable. Your help has and will immensely [continue to] change my life."

"I feel that my wellness coach at SFA provides me with a valuable support system. She is highly professional, knowledgeable and organized in her approach to coaching."

Maybe you want to be healthier, but are unsure of the ways in which to pursue that goal. Wellness coaching can focus on any of SFA's Seven Dimensions of Wellness and our coaches are trained in several tools and tactics to guide you in determining meaningful goals. While the coach is there to support and guide you, these goals are chosen by you based on what you want to achieve.

Who we are

It's important to note that wellness coaches are not therapists or psychologists, and we don't assess or diagnose health conditions. Our wellness coaches are undergraduate and graduate students who have participated in appropriate training. They consider you the expert in your own well-being and life.

If your needs are outside of their scope of practice, they can refer you to other on-campus allied professionals. These referrals may include:

  • Counseling Services: licensed professional counselors
  • Dining Services: registered dietitian
  • and Campus Recreation: certified personal trainers.

Session information

Free in-person and virtual sessions are available to meet your need and there isn't a limit to the number of sessions you may schedule.

The initial session, typically 60 minutes in length, is a time for you to work with your wellness coach to identify priorities, establish goals and create a realistic action plan.

You'll have the option to schedule 30-minute follow-up sessions. These additional sessions serve as an opportunity to discuss your progress with your coach and are scheduled every two to four weeks, based on your goals and schedule.

Your coach will check in via email between sessions to assist with maintaining goals.
