The Stephen F. Austin State University Mast Arboretum is hosting a workshop for early childhood educators, daycare providers and parents of young children from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 13, in Room 118 of the Agriculture Building on the SFA Campus.

The workshop, Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood, is the newest component of the well-known Project Learning Tree curriculum. Casey Harris, state coordinator for Project Learning Tree, will show teachers how to integrate nature-based exploration, art, literature, math, music, movement and outdoor play into early childhood education programs.

Environmental Experiences helps young children to explore the senses, the seasons and neighborhood trees through activities that highlight the importance of kinetic learning and engagement by incorporating music and movement using an accompanying music CD. This curriculum provides an introduction to environmental education at a key developmental period in children's lives.

For reservations or more information, contact Elyce Rodewald at (936) 468-1832 or erodewald@sfasu.edu. The cost of the workshop is $15.00.
