Stephen F. Austin State University will host National Alcohol Screening Day from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 8, on the first floor of the Human Services Building.
The screening will help participants recognize the signs of alcohol use disorders and provide information about local support and treatment. Attendees will also have the opportunity to complete a questionnaire about their alcohol use and speak privately with a mental health counselor-in-training.
The event is confidential and open to anyone. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available.
An estimated 221,000 people attended NASD events last year. Of those who completed the questionnaire, 45 percent scored in the hazardous or harmful drinking range.
NASD is one of two mental health screening events that the Human Services-Counseling Program sponsors every year.
