NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present internationally acclaimed flutist Sergio Pallottelli in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building as part of the Cole Performing Arts Series.

Pallottelli lives in Houston where he teaches his own private studio of advanced flutists. He was formerly on the faculty at the Taft School and the University of Bridgeport in Conneticutt. He performs as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe, South America and Australia.

At his SFA appearance, he will perform with music faculty members Christina Guenther, flute, and Geneva Fung, piano and harpsichord. Included in the program will be Franz Doppler's Andante and Rondo for 2 flutes and piano (Pallottelli, Guenther, Fung); ?Johann Sebastian Bach's Sonata E Major, BWV 1035 (Pallottelli, Fung); ?Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Sonata in E Minor, K. 304 (Pallottelli, Fung); ?Latin American Suite, arr. Pallottelli (Pallottelli); and ?Rigoletto Fantasy for Flute and Piano by Wilhelm Popp (Pallottelli, Fung).

"Doppler's Andante and Rondo for 2 flutes and piano is a standaBachrd in the flute duo repertoire and will be a fun collaboration," Guenther said.

??The Sonata E Major, BWV 1035 is one of the four authentic sonatas of the great Baroque master, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), Guenther explained.

"In the standard four-movement form, this sonata showcases beautiful warm colors, and long, flourishing lines typical in Baroque flute parts with continuo accompaniment in the harpsichord," she said.

Pallottelli has been the flutist for Orchestra Sinfonica do Estado de Sao Paulo, Utah Philharmonia, Utah Chamber Artists, Waterbury Symphony and Rotary International Orchestra. For four years he was a member of Canyonlands New Music Ensemble, directed by Morris Rosenzweig, in Salt Lake City, Utah. During this time he worked with avant-garde composers such as Mario Davidovsky, Milton Babbit, Shulamit Ran, Samuel Adler and John Adams.

Tickets for the guest recital are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $3 for students. For tickets or more information, visit www.finearts.sfasu.edu or call the SFA Fine Arts Box Office at (936) 468-6407.

He will also conduct a master class at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the Music Recital Hall.
