Overview

This concentration is offered within the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program.

As a high school agricultural science teacher, you hold the unique position of bringing together technical, hands-on mechanical skills with classroom leadership. You'll empower students to master the tools, technologies and problem-solving abilities they need to thrive in the modern agricultural industry.

Your impact in the shop and beyond

You will lead students through the essential principles of agricultural mechanics with daily mentoring of young innovators. You'll guide them through complex fabrication projects and prepare them for competitive events that showcase their technical expertise.

Path to certification

This professional preparation prepares you to earn certification from the Texas Education Agency for agricultural mechanics instruction at the high-school level. You'll complete specialized coursework in agricultural sciences for educators and directing for youth alongside rigorous professional education requirements.

SFA has rolling admissions. That means you can apply to the university anytime. Although, applying early has financial and housing benefits. Make sure to check with your specific department! Some programs need extra paperwork by a certain date to consider you for the upcoming semester.
