Overview

Find the story

History provides a roadmap for understanding the modern world. A Bachelor of Arts in history offers a comprehensive global perspective. You explore complex human stories to gain deep insights into how the past shapes your present. Study diverse regions, eras and topics—ranging from ancient civilizations and 20th-century history to specialized studies in religious, diplomatic, gender and ethnic history.

Study at the source

A Spanish mission was first built in Nacogdoches in 1716, and evidence of Native American inhabitants in the area can be traced back almost 10,000 years! Come study and earn your degree in the oldest town in Texas. You'll benefit from volunteer opportunities at various historic sites and regional museums. Your hands-on experience in public history will directly contribute to the preservation of our local heritage.

Academic flexibility

Considered the non-teaching track, the History, BA requires you to complete an undergraduate minor. Choose a minor that complements your studies and specific interests. Historical training translates to success across many fields.

Did you know that you can apply your research and writing expertise to roles in law, journalism, business management, diplomacy and publishing?
