You’ll inspire the next generation of musicians as a music educator. This degree prepares you to lead choirs, guide ensembles, and foster a love for music in students of all ages. Come gain the technical skills and teaching methods to run a successful music program.

Teaching through piano and choral arts

The piano-choral concentration is designed specifically for students who want to become choir directors or teachers who utilize piano as their primary instructional tool. Curriculum combines rigorous musical training with essential pedagogical strategies. You’ll be prepared to handle the unique demands of a choral music program.

Apply to SFA's music program

The School of Music application is a two-part process. Your acceptance into the music program is contingent upon successful admission to SFA. These two application processes may be completed at the same time.

When you're ready to begin, complete the online School of Music application.

When you open the School of Music application, begin in the "Start an Application" box. Selecting your intended degree will take you to specific application requirements and audition details. Meeting our standards ensures you're ready for the rigor of our programs.

Priority deadlines

For priority consideration with financial aid, submit your completed application by Jan. 15.

To be eligible for consideration for SFA enrollment, you must meet the undergraduate admission requirements. Select the option that best describes you:

Undergraduate applications are accepted online. Apply using ApplyTexas or Common App. Both are fine, just only submit one.

Priority deadlines

For our bachelor's degree programs, we have rolling admissions. That means you can apply anytime. Although, applying early has benefits.
