This concentration is offered within the Bachelor of Science in Forestry program.

This degree prepares you to step directly into roles at national wildlife refuges, government agencies or private conservation corporations.

A blended curriculum

This STEM-focused program blends forest ecology with modern wildlife biology. You'll gain the technical foundation required to manage habitats and monitor animal populations effectively. Expect to spend significant time in the field. You'll apply scientific principles to solve complex problems in real forest settings.

Program Highlights

Branching out through experience

Between your sophomore and junior years, you’ll head to the field station. For six weeks, the forest will be your classroom. You’ll practice timber inventory, wildlife sampling and mapping in a real-world setting.

All applicants must meet the undergraduate admission requirements. Select the option that best describes you:

First-year student (have never enrolled in college)
Transfer student (have enrolled in college)
All other applicants

Priority deadlines

SFA has rolling admissions. That means you can apply to the university anytime. Although, applying early has financial and housing benefits. Make sure to check with your specific department! Some programs need extra paperwork by a certain date to consider you for the upcoming semester.
