This concentration is offered with the Bachelor of Arts in media and communication program. The BA degree requires 12 credit hours of a foreign language and offers a broad perspective on your area of study.
If you prefer core coursework with a scientific focus and technical study, consider Media and Communication, BS with a focus in advertising and public relations.

Advertising and public relations drive how the world sees brands and organizations. This concentration equips you with the strategic thinking, creative skills and ethical foundation necessary to thrive in these fast-paced, high-stakes fields.
You don't just learn theory at SFA. Our program prioritizes hands-on experience, allowing you to conduct industry research and work directly with real clients at both local and national levels.
Specialized coursework
This concentration requires a total of 120 credit hours to complete. You follow a curriculum that balances applied skills with conceptual knowledge to ensure you’re ready for professional success. In addition to core requirements, you'll build a professional skillset by selecting electives from the following areas:
- Industry: Focus on international advertising, PR case studies or sports communication.
- Agency: Learn to manage campaigns and analyze consumer insights.
- Skills: Develop technical abilities in media planning, content creation and design.

SFA has rolling admissions. That means you can apply to the university anytime. Although, applying early has financial and housing benefits. Make sure to check with your specific department! Some programs need extra paperwork by a certain date to consider you for the upcoming semester.
