SFA Beef Farm barn replacement facility to be constructed


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University Beef Farm at the Walter C. Todd Agricultural Research Center is a home base for students studying the agricultural industry. It supports research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students, and approximately 5,300 guests visit the center each year for community events, tours and high-school agricultural competitions.

Unfortunately, a barn at the Beef Farm was destroyed by a November 2018 fire.

SFA School of Music ranks high in GradReport’s list of top bachelor’s degrees in U.S.

The 25 schools on the list offer the top bachelor's degrees in music, based on median salary one year out of college. GradReports uses alumni earnings data from the government and real student reviews to help people make decisions about their education and career.
 

SFA Gardens to host Little Princess Tea Party

SFA to host Showcase Saturday for prospective students


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Future college students will have the opportunity to experience a taste of campus life during a free, action-packed open house Saturday, Feb. 22, at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.

Prospective students can visit with university faculty and staff, tour the campus and residence halls, and preview academic programs during SFA’s Showcase Saturday event.

Art Prom returns to Nacogdoches


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The SFA Friends of the Visual Arts announces the return of the fabled Art Prom on Saturday March 21. The Art Prom, last held in 2004, was an annual tradition for area artists and art lovers for more than 20 years.

SFA Gardens to host budding and grafting workshop

Leaders of Tomorrow eighth graders to visit SFA’s STEM Program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The more than 30 Nacogdoches County eighth graders in the Leaders of Tomorrow program, or LOT Crew, will participate in robotics and stomp rocket activities to explore principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics while visiting the Cole STEM Building at Stephen F. Austin State University on March 3.

Office of Multicultural Affairs at SFA to host Black History Month Celebration


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs will host an event celebrating Black History Month at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Twilight Ballroom.

“We renamed this event from MLK Celebration because we want to recognize all black history figures – past, present and future,” said Veronica Beavers, director of OMA.

SFA championed as College of Distinction: University is one of just five Texas public schools on list


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin State University has been named a 2020 College of Distinction, a national honor that recognizes the university’s success in helping students learn and succeed.

With a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, SFA students have traditionally participated in activities that allow them to apply what they learn in the classroom to the needs and interests of society, according to Dr. Scott Gordon, SFA president.
