Senior Vice President for Enrollment and Student Engagement

Dr. Kent L. Willis is the university's first senior vice president for enrollment and student engagement. This new position represents more than an organizational change — it embodies SFA's commitment to combining meaningful student engagement with high-impact teaching practices.

Willis's path to this role was shaped by his firsthand experience with SFA's distinctive approach to education. As a 2008 graduate, he experienced the transformative power of mentorship and faculty guidance, which defines the SFA experience. These personal interactions and moments of growth continue to influence his vision for student success.

"When we talk about the SFA experience and what we hope every student will gain, we're really talking about something unique in higher education," Willis explains. "Our size and culture create opportunities for genuine connections between students, faculty and staff. These relationships often become the catalyst for personal and professional growth."

Willis believes success at SFA means more than earning a degree. "We're preparing students to make meaningful contributions in their chosen fields and communities," he added. "Whether heading to a classroom, clinic, laboratory or boardroom, our graduates leave with the skills and the vision to make a difference."

Outside of his professional role, Willis is passionate about family, faith and community. He and his wife, Ashley, enjoy road trips, learning about historic sites, local festivals and unique culinary experiences.
