World-class learning with a hometown feel
At SFA we offer our students one of the most immersive and hands-on learning experiences you can find. Our goal is to help students gain understanding of the physical aspects of the world and the ability to comprehend physical science and mathematical advancements. What students learn here benefits both our culture and future generations.
Our physics, engineering and astronomy students have access to advanced facilities, such as our new Cole STEM Building, planetarium and our observatory. We also offer our undergraduate students a chance to work side-by-side with their professors on real research.
If you’re one of those people who loves to understand how things work, why things happen in the universe and where they happen, this is the field of study for you.
Students who come to the Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy are often deeply curious about the principles that are the foundation of present understanding of physics, astronomy, and engineering, and they are seeking insight into the physical aspects of our environment and the scientific activity of our society. The careers that flow out of these fields are also very rewarding.
