Engineering Physics Program Mission Statement

The Engineering Physics program supports the mission of the department, college and university through its commitment to teaching, research and service. Our upper-division courses in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and physics provide an educational pathway for college students seeking to advance their careers. The program strives to serve the needs of the industry by emphasizing practical applications and hands-on experiences in our undergraduate program. The engineering physics program will produce graduates with a solid foundation in physics and engineering, capable of interdisciplinary innovation, and prepared for success in the engineering workplace.

Department Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy is to train and equip the next generation of physicists, engineers and astronomers for lasting careers in the physical sciences and engineering. The department values and strives to create a welcoming, engaging, inclusive and supportive environment in order to optimize student mentorship and foster learning.

The primary mission of the College of Sciences and Mathematics is to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs in a nurturing environment that prepare students for leadership and performance as STEM professionals. Through high-leverage programs, unique undergraduate research experiences and exciting internship opportunities, the college strives to empower the next generation of STEM professionals to lead and serve in a changing world.
