Becoming a registered dietitian

The path to become a registered dietitian involves four main stages.

Undergraduate Degree

Complete the accredited dietetics and nutritional sciences program to receive your verification statement.

Graduate Degree & Supervised Practice

Complete an ACEND-accredited program. Consider SFA's Master of Science program!

Credentialing Exam

Pass the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam for registered dietitian nutritionists.

Licensure

Check your state's requirements, as many employers in Texas and elsewhere require specific licensure for registered dietitian nutritionists.

SFA has rolling admissions. That means you can apply to the university anytime. Although, applying early has financial and housing benefits. Make sure to check with your specific department! Some programs need extra paperwork by a certain date to consider you for the upcoming semester.
