Favorite SFA tradition: Homecoming and axe handles
While I was at SFA. I always loved Homecoming weekend. There is always so much going on, and seeing all the students and alumni come together to support SFA was amazing. Since I graduated, SFA started the axe handle decorating tradition, and I have come to love this tradition as well. I actually received my first axe handle from one of my students who attended SFA and decorated it herself to give to me. I treasure that!

Favorite SFA tradition: Axe handle
This one is tough, can I pick six? If I can only choose one, I would say decorating your own axe handle. It's very unique to SFA, something that's tangible, and no two are alike. It's a symbol of Lumberjack pride and, like the incoming student first receiving their axe handle, it's a blank slate. The experiences, organizations and time at SFA are what allows the student to 'decorate' it however they'd like.
I have close to 40 axe handles that I've either collected, earned or received as a gift during my time as a student and professional staff member at SFA. Axe 'em!
