Student Referendum Vote, Spring 2026

The Student Government Association will hold a special election March 2–3 for students to vote on the proposed establishment of an intercollegiate athletics fee at SFA.
If approved, the fee would begin in Summer 2026 and allow existing tuition and fee dollars currently supporting athletics to be redirected toward broader student experience priorities.
Proposed fee structure
- Current students: $5 per semester credit hour, capped at 12 hours ($60 maximum per semester), beginning Summer 2026. This rate would remain locked for the duration of continuous enrollment.
- New students (beginning Fall 2026): $40 per semester credit hour, capped at 12 hours.
The intercollegiate athletics fee would be a mandatory fee and eligible for coverage under Purple Promise, scholarships, and other forms of financial aid.
Approval of the referendum would create a dedicated funding source that allows existing tuition and fee dollars to be reinvested in student experience priorities and would not increase the current athletics budget.
