Welcome, new Lumberjacks!

We're so excited to have you join our campus family and look forward to helping you and your family transition to life at SFA. Orientation is a great time to explore our campus resources, connect with students and faculty members in your academic major, and prepare for your college experience.

Lumberjack Orientation

One-day event required for first-year students. Transfer students are encouraged to attend! There is so much beneficial information for all incoming undergraduate students.

Before your orientation day

Before you arrive, download the event parking map and Lumberjack Orientation Checklist. This checklist includes details on how to clear holds, get advised, send in required documents, obtain a parking pass and more.

  • learn more about your academic program.
  • meet your dean, advisor, faculty and staff members within your academic program.
  • interact with other Lumberjacks.
  • explore campus resources and prepare for life as a Lumberjack!

Family Orientations (Guests + Siblings)

Guests

Intended for parents or a similar figure in your Lumberjack's life, Guest Orientation occurs in tandem with Lumberjack Orientation. Sessions are specifically designed to help you support your student. We want to be sure all your questions are answered! Topics typically discussed include:

  • coaching your student to success
  • college financial preparation
  • campus safety
  • getting involved at SFA
  • and many more!

Do you need to request accommodations?

Siblings

Middle- and high-school siblings! We have an orientation just for you that offers a taste of college life. These sessions are designed to be fun, educational and sure to send you home with a deeper love for purple.

Registration information

  • Cost: $50 per guest or sibling
    • Includes lunch, publications and materials.
  • To register, select the appropriate add-on option during Lumberjack Orientation registration.

Note: If you need to add this on after your student has registered, they can complete your registration and payment through the Orientation page in their mySFA account.

Lumberjack Life

Attendance is required of first-year students — and already paid in your Lumberjack Orientation registration fee.

Transfer students are encouraged to attend. Take advantage of all the great perks and settle in before the semester!
