Get in the Spirit!

For more than 100 years, every SFA student’s journey has been highlighted with the unique Lumberjack spirit and traditions that set our university apart from all others. As a new Lumberjack, you can get into the spirit by painting your first axe handle at Holler at Homer shortly after the fall semester begins.

Consider joining AXEperience, a student-run group that promotes SFA’s rich history and traditions throughout the year, planning events and rallies and organizing SFA’s annual Homecoming celebration. Homecoming is a weeklong celebration for all students and alumni that includes a concert, bonfire, fireworks, downtown parade, 5K race, court elections, football game, tailgating and much more.

Our student sections always bring the Purple Pride and the FUN wherever our Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks compete. So, raise your axe high, and start making those “Happy mem’ries!—All hail to SFA!”

Students with Disabilities

The Department of Student Life is committed to providing support for students with disabilities. If you are a student who needs accommodation to attend or participate in one of our events or student organizations, you are encouraged to stop by Room 325 in the Human Services Building to make your request. You may also call us at (936) 468-3004.

If you have an accommodation request, please see us as soon as possible, so we can make any arrangements necessary. Accommodations can only be arranged once a request has been submitted in writing to Disability Services. To the greatest extent possible, the Department of Student Life shall observe confidentiality with respect to any request for accommodation. Students who feel they have not been accommodated appropriately can appeal that decision utilizing the university appeals process.
