Capstone Experience

The projects listed below showcase proof-of-concept demonstrations for student capstone projects completed in fall 2025. These preliminary presentations highlight each team’s initial design, functionality and progress. Throughout spring 2026, the teams will continue refining and expanding their projects, and these videos will be updated with final presentations that reflect their completed work.

Automated Spray Gun System for Controlled Spray Dynamics

This capstone project focuses on designing and building an automated spray painting system using a UR5 robotic arm. The goal is to create a solution that can consistently and precisely apply paint to 3D surfaces, such as automotive parts, while minimizing overspray and human error. We are designing our custom hardware to mount our gun and solenoid system, and using RoboDK to visualize and optimize the robot's motion path. This project not only demonstrates industrial automation and robotic control but also addresses real-world manufacturing challenges.
