Ideal for faculty who may already have some experience with Brightspace and who wish to deepen their knowledge, these workshops offer a comprehensive foundation in the most-used tools, including news, content, grades, discussions, assignments (droboxes), groups, and quizzes.
More than just an introduction to each tool, these workshops provide a guided, deeper dive into settings and options, practical use cases, and pedagogical best practices. As we explore each tool, we’ll look at how to create and build course materials, as well as methods and options for evaluating student work. During each workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage with one another, sharing insights, advice, and tips of their own.
Paths to completion:
There are two ways to earn the Brightspace Foundations certificate: either by completing Brightspace Foundations 1-4, or by completing Brightspace Express Foundations 1 and 2, which are equivalent to Foundations 1-4. Workshops may be completed in any order; however, participants in the Express Foundations workshops may find it helpful to start with Part 1.
Workshops 1-4 consist of the following, for a total of 7 hours:
- Brightspace Foundations 1: Content and Communication (1.5 hours)
- Brightspace Foundations 2: Grades (1.5 hours)
- Brightspace Foundations 3: Discussions and Dropboxes (Assignments) (2 hours)
- Brightspace Foundations 4: Quizzes (2 hours)
Express workshops 1 and 2 consist of the following, for a total of 5 hours:
- Brightspace Express Foundations Part 1: Content, Communication, and Grades (2.5 hours)
- Brightspace Express Foundations Part 2: Discussions, Dropboxes (Assignments), and Quizzes (2.5 hours)
Note: To earn this certificate, participants must complete the required workshops within a 2-year period.
