Highest excellence in your field of study

The additional research and study required to complete a doctoral program will benefit you academically, professionally and personally. You’ll be an expert in your field — and you’ll be recognized as such by colleagues and clients. You’ll have the opportunity to achieve goals in your chosen field that may not be available to others.
Cultivate an advanced skillset
As a doctoral candidate at SFA, you’ll hone the critical abilities and confidence to succeed in your career. In addition to writing, reading, research and analysis, you’ll develop a strong toolkit of highly sought-after skills.
Completing your degree
You have 10 years to complete your SFA doctoral degree. Courses taken outside this window will not count toward your degree, so please plan accordingly.
If extenuating circumstances prevent you from completing your doctoral degree within that time frame, you may file a petition for an extension of the time limit. Your justification must be sent to and approved by your academic dean, as well as the dean of the graduate school.
