At SFA, our agriculture students pursue a wide range of career paths, from farming and cattle production to agriculture education, technology or marketing. A degree in agriculture can also be a first step toward veterinary school or a graduate degree in a related field.

During your time at SFA, you’ll have access to caring, dedicated instructors and world-class facilities, plus opportunities for internships, community outreach and transformative learning experiences. You’ll have the opportunity to get involved in student organizations and participate in meaningful research at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

A message from the department chair, Dr. Joey Bray

Welcome to the Department of Agriculture. As the world’s population continues to grow, agriculturists are tasked with developing new and innovative methods to produce enough food and fiber to supply the world, all while preserving the planet’s limited natural resources. If you find this interesting, then agriculture is a great degree program for you. A degree in agriculture is a combination of modern, challenging curriculum designed to provide you with critical scientific knowledge and experiential learning opportunities such as hands-on labs, field-based exercises, industry-driven internships and both undergraduate and graduate research projects. It is these practical learning experiences that will set you apart from your peers and prepare you to enter the vast world of agriculture.

Our faculty are experienced professionals that are dedicated to preparing you for a rewarding career in the agriculture industry. It is our goal to provide you with the knowledge and skills to become an agriculturalist that will lead us into the future.
