The Student Emergency Aid Fund helps students who need assistance with one-time school or life expenses up to $1,000.
SEAF assists with:
- Help paying the balance due on your eBill.
- If you can't afford your textbooks.
- Need help avoiding eviction, utility cutoff, collection agency.
- If you're unable to afford car repairs, insurance or monthly payment.
- Living incidentals, such as groceries, cell phone payment, internet and childcare.
Requirements and limits
All SEAF must first be applied to any balance on your student account before living expenses or incidentals.
Current balance on eBill
- You must be able to demonstrate the ability to fully satisfy the balance, including the amount requested from SEAF.
- If you're in a payment plan, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to satisfy payment installment, including the amount requested from SEAF.
Textbooks
- Applicable to rented books only.
- Up to $1,000; provide your own credit/debit card information in the event the books aren't returned.
Living expenses
- Rent
- Up to $1,000; provide notice of eviction or past-due notice.
- Utilities
- Up to $1,000; provide notice of cutoff.
- Medical bills
- Up to $1,000; provide final notice or warning of being sent to collections.
- Vehicle
- Repairs
- up to $500; provide a copy of invoice.
- Insurance
- up to $500; provide final notice for nonpayment.
- Note/payment
- up to $500; provide final notice for nonpayment.
- Repairs
Groceries
- Maximum $250, one-time payment.
- No documentation required.
Cell phone bill
- Maximum $250, one-time payment.
- No documentation required.
Childcare
- Maximum $250, one-time payment.
- No documentation required.
Internet
- Maximum $250, one-time payment.
- No documentation required.
SEAF cannot be used for:
- parking permits or tickets
- court costs or civil/criminal fines
- past due/prior balances on your student account
- These are balances owed for a term other than the one in which you're applying.
- late add/reinstatement fees
- 3-peat tuition
- and excessive hours fees.
Eligibility to receive funds
To be eligible to receive SEAF, you must:
- have a 2.0 cumulative GPA
- have utilized all financial resources, including student loans
- special circumstances may be considered
- be enrolled in the term in which you're applying
- and not be receiving more than $500 in a refund or cash advance in the term in which you're applying.
Note: Dual credit students are not eligible to receive SEAF. Contact your high school counselor for financial assistance information.
Applying for SEAF
All enrolled students are eligible to apply for emergency aid online.
