Residential Learning Community for Future Teachers

Student Resources

The Department of Education Studies is offering incoming first-year students in the educator preparation program the opportunity to live in a special residential area for future teachers, or the RAFT.

This unique living-learning community offers dedicated housing on a floor of Steen Hall specifically for first-year students studying to become teachers. Join fellow education studies majors in learning what it takes to become a teacher or a leader in the education industry. This community will allow you to interact with faculty members and participate in activities related to your major.

Why the RAFT?

  • Live, learn and connect with fellow aspiring educators in your program.
  • Enjoy programming and activities to support you in your education journey.
  • Connect with faculty and staff in the educator preparation program.

Only 36 spots are available, so students are encouraged to indicate their interest in the RAFT on their housing application and submit those applications as soon as they’re able.
